Title: The title of this event is the twenty-fifth annual juried show and competition. It is presented by the Roswell Fine Arts League and New Mexico Miniature Art Society. The show includes competition for standard and miniature sized works from anywhere in the USA or from league members anywhere they reside.

Dates: The show will run fro August 7-17, 2008

Site: The show is presented at the Roswell Museum and Art Center, in Roswell, NM

Cost: Entry fees are $30 for league members and $40 for non-members. This fee allows entry of 4 works. An additional three works may be entered for $10 per entry. Works may be entered in any of four categories (Standard size 2D, Miniature 2D, all 3D, and photo/digital).

Awards: The league will present more than $4,500 in awards.

Reception: the show will open with an evening reception and awards presentation on August 7.

Jury: The jury will meet and consider entries on June 21st. All standard and 3D entries will be juried from slides or CDs and miniatures will be juried from the actual art pieces.

Size: Standard 2D entries must not exceed 48 inches in either direction. Miniature 2d entries must not exceed 20 sq. inches. 3D works must not exceed 50lbs.

Size of show: The size of the show varies with the selection of the jury. Last year, the show included 178 pieces of art.

Notification of acceptance: After the jury selects art on June 21st, the notification is sent to all artists via mail not later than June 28th.

Returned work: All art is returned to the artist in accordance with the artists prearranged procedures.

Sales: All accepted work must be for sale. A commission of 25% will be retained on all sales.

Displays: The art show is displayed in the Roswell Museum and Art Center on cloth covered display boards
or museum pedestals for 3D art. Every possible step is taken to present the show in the highest quality environment.

The Roswell Fine Arts league was organized in 1981 and the New Mexico Miniature Art Society was organized in 1988 as an integral part of the league. We currently have about 115 members, including two members in the United Kingdom.

The Roswell Fine Arts League/New Mexico Miniature Arts Society presents it’s Twenty-Fourth Annual Juried Show and Competition for Standard and Miniature Art to be held from August 7-17th 2008. This show will be held at the Patricia Lubben Bassett Education Center located within the Roswell Museum and Art Center, 100 West Eleventh Street, in Roswell New Mexico.

ABOUT THE RFAL/NMMAS

Roswell Fine Arts League (RFAL) was organized in 1981. The New Mexico Miniature Arts Society (NMMAS) was organized in 1988 as an integral part of the RFAL.

The goal of the RFAL/NMMAS is to provide programs that create opportunities for artist and art enthusiasts to exhibit, to educate and to explore means of developing artistic skills and knowledge. The annual juried show sponsored by the RFAL/NMMAS is one of the major programs designed to meet the goals of the league.

ABOUT THE JUDGES

Kim Wiggins, from Roswell, NM, is a nationallyknown artist whose works are housed in such collections

as the Anschutz Collection and the Museum of New Mexico. He is also listed in Who’s Who in American A
and Who’s Who in the World. He is represented by theAltermann Galleries in Santa Fe and New York.

Cecilia Stanford is a mosaic artist and sculptorfrom Silver City, NM. She is represented by such galleries
as the Blue Dome Gallery in Silver City and the ShidoniGallery in Santa Fe.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
The 2008 show is open to all RFAL/NMMAS

The 2008 show is open to all RFAL/NMMAS members, regardless of where they live. It is also open to non-members in all fifty states. Submitted work must not have been shown in previous RFAL/NMMAS shows. All work must be original, and not prepared under supervision of an instructor. Work must have been completed within the last two (2) years.

HOW TO ENTER-Miniatures

1. Provide all information requested on the Entry Form with this prospectus. Be sure to circle the category in which you are entering each piece. Form MUST BE SIGNED. 2. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

1. Works must be originals, and may be in any medium. 2. Standard 2D must not exceed 48 inches in either direction, including frame and must be wired for hanging (no saw-toothed hangers). For works requiring glazing, Plexiglas should be used. 3. Standard 2D must not exceed 20 sq. in. (72 sq. in. framed). For works requiring glazing, Plexiglas should be used. 4. Works in all 3D categories can be standard or miniature size, not to exceed 50 lbs., and may be functional or non-functional. For works requiring glazing, Plexiglas should be used. 5. Photography/Digital Art may be any size, not exceed 48 inches in either direction, including frame. For works requiring glazing, Plexiglas should be used.

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES

June 11, 2008 is the last day for applications for entry to be received. (Note: Both slide/CD entries and original artwork for miniature entries are due on this date. Jurying of the entries will take place on June 21. Notification of jury results will be sent by June 28, 2008. ENTRY FEES $30.00 for RFAL/NMMAS members ($40.00 for non-members) for four works. Up to 3 more entries may be submitted at $10.00 per entry. These works may be submitted in any of the four categories, (i.e. an artist might enter four works-two as standard 2D and one as Miniature 2D and one as Digital Art. Up to three more entries may be submitted and may also be placed in any of the four categories. Or an artist may submit all works in one category. The category for each entry must be checked on the Entry Form.) Entrants may join the league for a $20.00 (annual) fee, entitling them to enter from wherever they live at the “membership” rate. SHIPPING OF WORKS Miniature 2D-Shipped works must be prepaid and include entry fee, $10.00 handling fee, SASE and return-shipping fee. Miniature works must be received by June 11, 2008 for jurying. Mail to address listed in the “HOW TO ENTER” section. Do NOT send to post office box. HANDLING FEE There will be a $10.00 handling fee for all shipped work. SALES All accepted work must be for sale. SITE: THE ART GALLERY AT FELLS POINT, an artists' cooperative in the heart of historic Baltimore.

Gallery members: $25.00
Non-members: $30.00 if delivered and picked up by the artist.

All reasonable care will be exercised in handling the
art work submitted. THE ART GALLERY OF FELLS
POINT will not be responsible for loss or damage to

exhibition implies an agreement on the part of the

FRAMING: Wood or metal frames only. (No plastic or metal sectionals). Proper framing with wire and screw eyes required. Exception: one-piece molded fine-art miniature frames with metal hanging rings acceptable. NO SAW-TOOTH HANGERS.

SALES: All entries must be for sale, priced no lower than $75.00, and in $5.00 increments.

SHOW: MASF Annual International Miniature Art Show

SITE: Dunedin Fine Arts Center, Dunedin, FL

COST: Domestic: $35 Members, $45 Non-members: Foreign: $40 Members, $50 Non-members. Artists pay for shipment to the Show, MASF pays for return of unaccepted and unsold works to artists domestic and foreign.

AWARDS: Approximately $12,000 for over 60 awards

RECEPTION: Artists and volunteers reception with buffet on evening before Show opening. Awards Brunch on morning of Show opening.

JURYING PROCESS: 1200 to 1500 entries are juried down to around 850 accepted works by a jury of 5 award winning miniature artists.

RULES: At least 18 years of age. Single point hangars with Velcro stability pad. Neatly covered backs. Fine art quality frames. 5 works maximum per artist. Works offered for sale. Limit of 1 “Not For Sale”. Details in Show Prospectus available on MASF website www.miniatureartsocietyofflorida.com

SIZE RESTRICTIONS OF IMAGES: Maximum inage size of 25 square inches. Maximum outside area inclusive of frame of 64 square inches.

JUDGING: Each entry judged at least twice, once by medium and once by subject, for one of the over 60 awards by judges who are eminent artists.

SIZE OF SHOW: From 800 to 900 works.

UNIQUENESS OF THE SHOW: Largest Miniature Art Society sanctioned Miniature Art Show in the world. Always housed in an Art Museum or Art Center with museum style lighting and ambience.

NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE: All artists with accepted work receive formal letters of acceptance including listing exactly as it will appear in the Show catalog. Artwork of artists with no works accepted will be returned to artists promptly after jurying is completed.

RETURN OF WORK: Unsold artwork is returned in packaging in which it was received via US Postal Service or Federal Express promptly after Show closing.

SALES: All artwork is offered for sale (except those indicated as “Not For Sale” (see limitations above) at prices established by the artists. A sales commission of 30% of the established price is retained by MASF. An incredible 40% of the accepted artwork is sold during the Show.

DISPLAY OF WORKS: The artwork is displayed in 50 attractive 44 inch wide by 34 inch high fabric-backed panels which are hung on museum walls at eye height with museum lighting. Approximately 16 works are displayed on each panel. About 300 running feet of museum wall space is required for the 50 panels.

ADVICE OF PARTICIPANT IN THIS SHOW: Artists are encouraged to attend the Show, particularly over the opening weekend which includes the Collector’s Preview on Saturday, the Artist’s and Volunteer’s Reception Saturday evening, The Awards Brunch on Sunday morning and the Opening on Sunday afternoon. They are also encouraged to bring demonstration materials and samples of their work for sale at a demo table stay for the first few days of the Show and demonstrate. This is an incredibly effective way for collectors to become acquainted with the artists.

Please make check or money order to the MonDak Heritage Center. En­tries will be returned & cash prizes awarded 10-24 days after the show closes. Please mark your form if you wish to have insurance on your package on the return shipment and include enough funds to cover it.

Sales:

A 15% commission will be retained on all art sales. The sale price indicated on the entry form should in­clude the commission. Items that are sold will remain a part of the exhibition until its conclusion. Artist may
designate their works "Not For Sale" if they so
choose. Please mark that on the entry form and enter
the insurance value. All works must remain in the
show until the show closes. Checks for the art sold
will be sent within 30 days of show ending.

Liability:

All reasonable care will be given to objects in the custody of MonDak Heritage Center. Works are

Miniature Exhibition Invitation

The Renaissance Art Gallery, an artist cooperative in Huntington, West Virginia, is pleased to present its Seventh Annual National Miniature Exhibition
Eligibility: The exhibition is open to all North American residents 18 years or older. All fine art media except copier reproductions accepted. Artwork must be the original and have been completed in 2006-2007.
Number Of Works: Up to 3 pieces of work for each submission. All submitted works will be hung.
Size: Two-dimensional work image area no larger then 4x6 or 24 sq in. Frames no larger then 6 x 8 or 48 sq in. Three-dimensional work limited to 8 inches in any direction, including the base or pedestal.
Framing: Wood or metal frames only (no plastic). Proper framing with wires and screw eyes required. Exception: one-piece molded fine-art miniature frames with metal hinging ring accepted. No Saw-toothed Hangers.
Fees: (Non-Refundable) Delivered and retrieved by the artist: $20.00 (US) per submission. Shipped work: ($30.00 (US) per submission. All shipped work is to come with return postage prepaid. Insurance is the responsibility of the artist. Make check payable to The Renaissance Gallery.

Packaging must include a sturdy corrugated box, and artwork must be protected with bubble wrap or rigid foam sheet. Do not use packing peanuts or work crates. Exhibition tags should be attached to the back of framed work in the upper right corner and on the bottom of three-dimensional work. Please include a self-addressed return label.
Deadlines: Artwork(s) entry forms and fee must be postmarked by October 15th for shipped work. Hand delivered work be received by the gallery on October 20th thru 21st during normal gallery hours, 12:00-4:00 pm. All awards will be announced at a reception at the gallery Sunday November 4th. Exhibition will run through December 8, 2007. Pick up for work will be Saturday, December 8, 2007, during gallery hours 12-4:00 pm with all shipped work returned the following week.
Juror of Awards:
John Allen Thompson artist – Miniaturist, Currently serving as president of the Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers Society of Washington, DC (MPSGS) Graduated Bachelor of Science from Southern Illinois University in 1963, Master of Science 1964, Corcoran School of Art – Certification 1989. Mr. Thompson is a member of the Hilliard Society of Miniaturist, Somerset, England, the American Art league of Washington DC, the Miniature Art Society of Florida and has many other accomplishments and affiliations to numerous to mention here
Awards and Prizes: Awards in excess of $600 will be given. Awards of Excellence, Merit awards and Purchase awards will be given as well as prizes in merchandise.
Rights, responsibilities and liability: Entries not meeting the above conditions will be rejected. The Renaissance Gallery retains the right to determine the suitability of work submitted for exhibition.
Submission of entry implies:
  • Submitted work is original and does not infringe on any copyright
  • Permission is given to The Renaissance Gallery to reproduce work for publicity
  • Work is consigned for the duration of the exhibit unless special arrangements is made prior to the exhibit
  • The artist commits to donate 20% of each sale to the Renaissance Gallery, all donations being tax deductible.

All work will be hung, but work not fitting the rules will not be eligible for awards. Notice of awards will be sent to the winners with their checks following the reception. Ribbons will be returned with the miniatures at the close of the show.

RULES AND SIZES
The 1/6 rule applies. All painting and drawing styles are welcome. No giclees or prints except hand pulled prints, s/n. No sculptures or photography. Maximum size of painting is 25 sq inches. Maximum size of frame to be 50 square inches. No plastic frames or easel backs allowed. No saw tooth hangers, use wire. See prospectus for more detail.

First year we had 40+, the second year we had 60+

RETURN OF ARTWORK
All work will be packaged on the last day of the show and be mailed the first week of August.

DISPLAY AREA
The work is hung on the walls. There are no cases available for displaying items that cannot be hung on the walls. The area is inside the Museum and is closely watched by the volunteers.

SALES
All efforts will be made to sell, though we have had minimal success on sales in the past. Commission is 30% (20% for members of the HAG)

Exhibit Rules

ELIGIBILITY: This exhibit is open to all artists, 18 and
over.

MEDIA: Any two or three dimensional fine art media,
including non-digital photography, hand pulled
prints, pottery, fiber and sculpture. (No crafts or
reproductions will be accepted.)

SIZE: 2-dimensional work must be no larger than 35
square inches (not including the frame). 3-
dimensional artwork must be no larger than 8x8x8
inches, including the base, and must be securely
attached to the base or must stand freely if no base is
required.
2-dimensional work must be framed or have
wrapped, finished edges, be dry and ready to hang.
3-dimensional work must be original and not made
from kits or pre-cast forms.

IDENTIFICATION: Title, medium, artist and price must
properly identify all work. Art should be available for
sale.

NUMBER OF ENTRIES: Artists may submit one or two
entries.

ENTRY FEES: There is no entry fee for this exhibit.

DELIVERY ARTWORK: Entries should be shipped
directly to the Carriage Factory Gallery. Artwork
should arrive at or be delivered to the Carriage
Factory Gallery no later than November 15, 2008.

ACCEPTING ARTWORK: Artwork is accepted and
installed at the discretion of the Director of the
Carriage Factory Gallery and the Board of Directors
of the Carriage Factory Gallery.
We have a large exhibit area and as much of the
submitted artwork as possible will be exhibited. In
the event we receive too many pieces for all to be
exhibited, one piece from every submitting artist will
be displayed. If that piece sells, the second piece will
be displayed.
All artwork will be displayed on the gallery’s web
site throughout the duration of the physical exhibit.

SALES: A 40% commission will be charged on all
sales. Artists will be notified in the event of a sale
and will receive checks approximately three weeks
after the close of the show.

INSURANCE: The Carriage Factory Gallery carries
insurance on all exhibits while artwork is in the
gallery’s possession. Gallery insurance DOES NOT
cover damage or loss duration transit.

RETURN OF ARTWORK: Artists are responsible for
payment of return shipment for all unsold work. If
you have an account with a carrier such as UPS,
FedEx, DHL or others, you are encouraged to
provide return shipping labels. All other artwork will
be packaged, shipping quotes will be obtained from
either FedEx or USPS and artists will be notified of
the cost. Packages will be shipped ONLY AFTER
PAYMENT IS RECEIVED.

While Art is not unfamiliar to the people of the Midwest, Miniature Art is only just beginning to find it’s way into the hearts and homes of Hendricks County. The essence of Miniature Art, is that it is extremely detailed, exquisite in color and has a strong composition. These ‘tiny treasures’ as small as a postage stamp to just 80 square inches, sometimes defies what an artist can produce in such a small space. From a portrait of a dog that you ‘could just touch’ to miniature landscapes that require a magnifying glass to explore, these ‘tiny treasures’ live up to their name.

The world of Miniature Art comes to Hendricks County at Artistic Designs Gallery’s Second Annual Miniature Fine Art Show May 2nd thru May 31. Over 40 artists from across the United States and Canada including Indiana and Hendricks County will display over 120 pieces of Miniature Fine Art. An Opening Reception for attending artist is scheduled for May 2nd, noon til 6:00 and during gallery hours on Saturday May 3rd 9:00 til 4:00.

Today’s Artists painting in miniature, are not unlike other artist, who use many different media; acrylic, egg tempura, oil, pastel, and watercolor to name some of the most common. Miniature Art is a unique art form, minute in detail, tracing its roots back to the book paintings and illuminated manuscripts of the 7th century. Elizabethan England was noted for its miniature portraits on vellum and later on ivory. A very personalized form of art, it was easily carried in a pocket or a locket. The period of exploration and colonization brought miniature art to America’s shores where its European heritage soon reflected the influences of the New World and its challenges and freedoms.

Not unlike the art organizations in Indiana, Miniature Art Societies have been formed around the world. Some of the more well known are the Hilliard Society of Miniaturists in England, World Federation of Miniaturists in Australia, Cider Painters of America in Pennsylvania, Miniature Art Society of Florida in Clearwater, The Miniature Painters Sculptors and Gravers Society in Washington DC, New Mexico Miniature Arts Society in Roswell, and Northern California Society of Arts in Miniature in Mariposa.

Jurying: - usually 5 - 7 sometimes 9 members of council and guest jurors.

Attention should be paid to presentation - clean glass and neat framing etc as well as quality of work.

Rules: the Constitution is sent to all new members on joining the society and conditions or entry are sent along with entry forms with the Spring Newsletter.

Size: This information is given in the conditions of entry. Size limit is normally about 5” x 7 “ including frame.

Normally about 500 accepted works are shown depending on submission and quality.

Show is unique to the area in size and prestige. International artists exhibit at this and the RMS.

Artists are informed of acceptance or otherwise with the return of their entry form.

Artwork is returned packed in bubble-wrap and bubble envelopes and sent special delivery with insurance up to a certain amount. Overseas is sent according to area.

It is the artist's responsibility to insure their own work.

The works are displayed in locked cases approximately 2 feet by 3 feet in size under glass.

Sales are about 10 - 15%

If any artist is in doubt about the suitability of their work they may send photographs / photocopies to the office for an opinion. We prefer to receive them by post rather than by e-mail.

ALL FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
Fee includes return packing, postage, and shipping insurance up to $100.00.
All entries must be for sale.
A 30% commission will be charged on all sales.
Make checks or money orders payable to El Dorado Gallery.

RULES:
1. All entries are subject to be juried. Decision of Judge is final.
2. All entries must be original works not previously exhibited in an El Dorado Miniatures Show.
3. Image size for paintings must not exceed 25 sq. inches. (Example: 5” X 5”, etc.)
4. Outside edges of frame measurements must not exceed 80 sq. inches. (Example:16” X 5”, etc.)
5. Mats, frames and mountings shall be delicate and in proportion to the work.
6. All work must be ready for hanging with wire and screw eyes. No sawtooth hangers. No plastic frames.
Frames with easel backs will not be accepted, even if a wire and screw eyes have been additionally attached.
7. Sculpture must not exceed 216 cubic inches, excluding base and/or mountings. (Example: 6” X 6” X 6”)
8. The 1/6 Rule for Miniature Art will be strictly adhered to. Subjects may not exceed one-sixth of their actual size.
9. All entries must be the work of living artists of legal age.
10. No crafts, photographic, dark room, or computer techniques will be accepted.

RECEIVING Work should be hand delivered or shipped to El Dorado Gallery on or before April 15, 2008. Artwork must be
& SHIPPING: packed in reusable containers with enclosed return shipping label. No P.O. Box # on return shipping label—only
street addresses will be accepted. Please use bubble wrap or foam rubber and rubber bands—no tape or peanuts. No
wooden crates except for sculpture. If crate exceeds 10 lbs. it will be shipped C.O.D. for the additional weight.
If you wish to have a receipt of delivery, please enclose a self-addressed stamped postcard.

LIABILITY: All entries will be handled with care. However, the management of the exhibit and the El Dorado Gallery will not be
responsible for any loss or damage, and any insurance is the responsibility of the exhibiting artist.

RETURN OF WORKS: All works, other than the shipped works, must be picked up from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2008.

RULES:
1. All entries MUST be original.
A) EACH WORK MUST BE THE CREATION OF THE ARTISTS (NO COPIES) AND NOT PRODUCED FROM A KIT.
B) NOT PREVIOUSLY SHOWN AT THE ART CENTER
C). REFERENCE MATERIAL NO LONGER UNDER COPYRIGHT=
D) REFERENCE MATERIAL UNDER COPYRIGHT MUST HAVE THE WRITTEN PERMISSION FROM THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER AND IT MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE ENTRY FORM. THIS WORK CANNOT COMPETE FOR AN AWARD.
E) IMAGE SIZE: MUST NOT EXCEED 25 square inches, 1/6 ACTUAL SIZE OF THE SUBJECT ( 1/6TH OF 9 INCHES IS 1 1/2 INCHES)

2. FRAMES up to 3/4 inch wide - 35 square inches for matted material - 25 square inches for all others ( 5 x 5 inches) Please note example: Outside measurement of the frame should be 5 inches X 5 inches = 25 square inches or less 5 x 7 inches = 35 square inches Any larger frames will not be accepted. HEIGHT TIMES WIDTH EQUAL SQUARE INCHES

3. NO SECTIONAL METAL FRAMES. NO PLASTIC OR DOLLHOUSE FRAMES OR PHOTOGRAPH FRAMES (WITH OR WITHOUT EASEL BACKS).

4. MATS AND FRAMES SHOULD BE DELICATE AND IN PROPORTION TO THE WORK. ( 1 INCH wide or Less MAT).

5. SECURE A SMALL SQUARE OF VELCRO (ROUGH SIDE) TO THE BACK BOTTOM 2 CORNERS OF THE FRAME OF EACH WORK. (NOT the smooth felt piece)

6. ALL ENTRIES TO BE HUNG MUST HAVE A NEATLY FINISHED BACKING WITH NO sawtooth hangers and NO masking tape

7. PLEXIGLAS OR ACETATE COVERS ARE TO BE USED on MATTED WORKS. pastels, pencil and watercolor)

8. WORKS MUST BE FRAMED AND READY FOR HANGING WITH SCREW EYES AND WIRE (smallest screw eyes and lightest weight wire must be used) NEAT BACK

9. SCULPTURE must be of lasting material and fit within a 6 x 6 x 6 inch cube including the base REPRESENTATION OF THE SUBJECT FOR MINIATURE MUST NOT EXCEED 1/6 THE ACTUAL SIZE.
