SHOW: 13th Annual Gateway to the Rockies Art Exhibit

DEADLINE: September 5 (POSTMARK DEADLINE) (Registration is by mail only. Hand delivered entry forms will not be accepted.)

SITE: Aurora History Museum - 15051 E. Alameda Parkway Aurora, CO 80012

COST: Fees: Non-members: $10 per entry. • Members: $6 per entry. (Maximum number of juried entries: 3 framed pieces in the Two-Dimensional Artwork/Photography Competitions and/or 3 framed pieces in the Miniature Competition.)

AWARDS: Ribbons will be awarded for “Best of Show,” one in each competition. First, second, third place and honorable mentions in each competition as well as “The Kate Tauer Award” and “Aurora’s First Lady Award.” The number of entries and sponsor contributions will determine cash and merchandise awards.


RECEPTION: Friday, October 12 - Reception: 5-8 p.m. Presentation of awards: 6:30 p.m.

JURYING PROCESS
:

RULES:
Eligibility (All artwork completed within the last five (5) years.) Work shown in any previous Aurora Artists Guild Gateway Show will not be accepted. Artwork must be original and not copied from any copyrighted material or photographs, except those taken by the artist.
General Specifications Artwork will only be accepted with if suitably framed with eye screws or flat clips and wire. Gallery wrapped canvas must have finished edges. Wrap ends of wire. No saw tooth hangers, unframed glass or clipped-in hangers. No artwork, price or title substitutions after entry. Artwork must have a label attached to upper back of each entry listing: artist’s name, title of work, address, home phone number and phone number where you can be reached the day of judging (if different), medium and price; or it will not be accepted.
All work must be priced, available for sale, and must remain until the end of the show. No price or title changes after entry. A commission of 30% of sold work goes to City of Aurora Cultural Programs. All sales will be handled by the Aurora History Museum Foundation.

SIZE RESTRICTIONS OF IMAGES:
Miniature Competition (No Photography) (Traditional miniature standards do not apply.) Maximum image size: 35 square inches. Maximum inside frame size: 80 square inches.
JUDGING:
All artwork will be judged according to fine art principles, subject matter and presentation. The decisions of the judges are final. The Aurora Artists Guild and the City of Aurora reserve the right to reject any work deemed unsuitable per AAG and community standards.
SIZE OF SHOW
:
Entries in the miniature competition are from all over the U.S. as well as Canada, England and sometimes Iran.
UNIQUENESS OF THE SHOW:
We have 3 categories for this show and there are 3 judges, one for each category: Photography, 2-dimensional artwork and Miniatures.

NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE: Friday, September 21 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Gateway to the Rockies Two-Dimensional Artwork/Photography/Miniature Competitions will be juried. 2 p.m.-6 p.m. Unselected work must be picked up September 15 You will be notified by phone to pick-up your artwork.

RETURN OF WORK
:
Sunday, November 4
Pick up show work between 12-2 p.m. Return of shipped work and awards mailed by November 21. A $5 per day storage fee will be charged for all entries not picked up on November 4.

ADVICE OF PARTICIPANT IN THIS SHOW:
Hand Delivery Artwork Large paintings, photographs and miniatures must be hand delivered to the Aurora History Museum, 15051 E. Alameda Parkway on Friday, September 21, 2007, from 8-11 a.m. No work will be accepted after 11 a.m. Handicap assistance available, call 303-739-6660.
Shipped Miniatures (ONLY miniatures may be shipped, postmarked by Sept. 5, 2007) Include $10 for return shipping and handling. Shipped work must be wrapped in bubble or foam sheets with rubber bands, no tape or peanuts. Pack in reusable container with a return label enclosed. No P.O. Box numbers; street addresses only.
