SHOW: 23rd Annual Miniature Art Exhibition
DATE: November 2, 2007 - January 11, 2008
DEADLINE: September 28, 2007, for artworks plus entry forms
SITE: Council for the Arts, 159 S. Main St., Chambersburg, PA 17201
COST: $20 entry fee, plus $10 for shipping and handling of entries (not needed for hand-delivered work)
AWARDS: Best of Show $300, 3 Merit Awards, $100 each
RECEPTION: Reception 4-7 PM, November 2nd
JURYING PROCESS: The show will be juried by the actual works, not slides, by Rebecca Weber, owner of Sheppard Art Gallery, Ellicott City, Maryland
RULES: All fine arts; no crafts, photography or computer-generated artwork.
SIZE RESTRICTIONS OF IMAGES: Image size no greater than 24 sq.in.; sculpture should not exceed 5" in any dimension
JUDGING: The show will be judged by the actual works, not slides, by Rebecca Weber, owner of Sheppard Art Gallery, Ellicott City, Maryland
SIZE OF SHOW: in 2006 we accepted 235 works by artists from 30 states, juried from 417 works
UNIQUENESS OF THE SHOW: We receive work from many of the most prominent miniature artists in the country, and display it in our professional, yet friendly, and handicapped accessible gallery, in the small city of Chambersburg, PA, about 2 hours west of Washington and Baltimore.
NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE: Yes, by mail
RETURN OF WORK: Artwork is shipped back to artists in the boxes received from them.
SALES: In 2006 we sold over $7500 worth of art, or approximately 35% of the works of art. The Council charges a 35%commission on works sold.
DISPLAY OF WORKS: The 2-dimensional works are pinned to large panels and hung on our white walls. We do not use showcases.
ADVICE TO PARTICIPANTS IN THIS SHOW: Our judges invariably mention that framing for miniatures should be delicate and in proportion to the work.
